Official Press Release

โ€‹To all the High School Coaches and Parents, there is going to be a new lacrosse organization based in the Wake Forest area. S.F. Lacrosse Club (SFLC) Eagles is a newly formed lacrosse club started by Coach Michael Smith, the current Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School and Coach John Fernandez, the current Head Varsity Lacrosse Coach at Wake Forest High School. Our Female Director will be Michelle Kline the current Varsity Lacrosse Coach for Heritage High School and her Husband Michael Kline.
โ€‹SFLC will be offering an opportunity for High School boys and girls of all levels that are interested in joining a travel club team and growing the game of lacrosse. Initially we will have NO TRYOUTS and plan to field an A-Alpha Team and B-Bravo Team pending participation numbers. We want to help all levels grow and appreciate the Creators Game.
โ€‹As we continue to grow we will begin to add youth and middle school lacrosse as we reach out to other areas of North Carolina. Our primary goal is as we grow we want to grow the game of lacrosse. This will be done through our Grow the Game Initiative N.C. Each year we will be giving a grant to a N.C. High School that is looking to add lacrosse as an athletic sport to offset some of the initial costs and we are hoping to offer our first grant this year. We also want to thank StringKing as they donated 50 complete lacrosse sticks!!
โ€‹Registration is now open but if still have questions you can email us at sflceagles@gmail.com for more information and our website is sflacrosseclub.org. The website is still a work in progress but has a lot of information already on it to include information about our SPC Dana Wilson Memorial Scholarship. A lot of the things we do will have a military theme to them. We are looking for support to make all this happen and we want to say thank you as well.

For anyone interested in becoming a youth lacrosse official, this is a reminder of the US Lacrosse Youth Officials Classroom session at Cardinal Gibbons HS, 1401 Edwards Mill Road, Raleigh, NC 27607. Cost of the clinic is $60 to cover the manual, Sat. lunch and the patches. You must be a member of US Lacrosse as an official to attend. The classroom sessions will be on Saturday, August 26 from 8:30-4:30 and Sunday, August 27 from 1:00-4:00.

If interested or planning to attend, please go to www.tmloa.org and click on the Contact link . In the message section, please write something along the lines of "I plan to attend the youth officials' clinic and am aware of the 5 steps necessary to complete the certification process."

Complete requirements for certicification are as follows:
1. At least 14 years old and also registered with US Lacrosse as an official; if already a member of USL as a player, just contact membership@uslacrosse.org and have USL add Official to your membership status.

Way to early for predictions wrote on August 6, 2017 at 5:10 pm:
Don't forget to take into consideration the new realignment before making predictions. East Chapel Hill is now in the 3A bracket and in the same conference with Cedar Ridge and Chapel Hill. Cedar Ridge may very well repeat as the 3A rep from the east but they are not a sho0-in. I would still favor the 3A rep from the West to win it again though.

Hellow everyone,

I'm back to do my way too early predictions for State Championships. I will also rank my top teams from 3A, 4A, and Private.

State Championship
3A- Weddington vs Cedar Ridge (rematch)
4A- Lake Norman vs Middle Creek
Private- Christ School vs Providence Day

Top 10 Rankings
1. Middle Creek- last years 4A State champions, lost some key seniors but retain the Caputo brothers and there FOGO

2. Christ School- lost a lot of seniors but will rebound with young studs to contributed in last years stellar season

3. Lake Norman- A team who gains Drew Elder Hofstra commit, they finally have a FOGO. They also only lose 4 seniors, this could be a huge year for the wildcats.

4. Cardinal Gibbons- They lose guys like most teams but still retain a lot of studs, see them playing Middle Creek Semi finals again.

5. Weddington- Loss of leadership and coach bumped them down on my list. But they retain most of there defense and there FOGO. Look for another big year for the warriors

6. Northwest Guilford- Disappointing finish to their season last year. A young defense and stellar attack line. This team needs to finish games in the playoffs.

7. Charlotte Catholic- Don't lose much and retain a large chunk of there team should be a good, looking to see them play Weddington in the semis for 3A this year

8. Apex- Some what of a sleeper team they have talent all over but I'd be surprised if they make it passed MC or CG

9. Myers Park- they lose minimal seniors and regain most of there team. Myers Park will compete with Catholic for the conference championship.

10. Providence Day- They retain some great talent and should make a run deep into the private school play if there big guns can stay health and show up in the big time games.

Hi, my name is Jack Shelton and I was wondering if anyone was looking for someone to do private lessons. I graduated from Cardinal Gibbons in 2016 as a captain and currently play at The University of Tampa. I am a little bit of an attack/middie hybrid so I can offer any kind of offensive work or goalie work.

With so many openings this summer who do you will think will fill all of these positions? Is there enough coaches to fill all these openings? The coaching turnover is a lot this year.

Panther Creek?
Chapel Hill?
JF Webb?
Northern Durham?
Also Northwood and Weddington a little outside of the triangle.
Westward expansion on the D1 level wrote on June 17, 2017 at 2:11 pm:
The University of Utah announced Friday that they would add Men's Lacrosse as a varsity sport starting with the 2019 season. Former UNC assistant coach and former Johns Hopkins goalkeeper Brian Holman took the job last summer as the club coach under the premise that Utah would go varsity in 2-3 years. Holman took the Utes to their first winning season since 2010, reversing the 2016 record of 5-9 to 10-7 this year, losing in the quarter-finals of the MCLA D1 National Tournament. Their tournament appearance as the #8 seed was the first time that the Utes had played in the MCLA tournament. Utah will now be the farthermost western D1 school, replacing Colorado teams Denver and the Air Force Academy.

Coach Holman is a quality coach and a quality person, I wish him a lot of luck growing the game in the west.
